June 2013
One of my favorite drills to get a player hitting the ball squarely is to make a simple training gate using a pair of tees.
Set one tee just inside the heel of the club at address, and another just outside the toe (above). The tees should allow enough space for the clubhead to swing through. I'm doing it with an iron here, but you can use any club—even a putter.
If you swing an iron through the gate and make a consistent divot, you're guaranteed to hit the ball in the center of the clubface. The tees will let you know if you make a mistake. If you're hitting the ball toward the toe, you'll knock down the inside tee. If you're making contact near the heel, you'll hit the outside tee. It's powerful feedback.
Start with slow swings and no ball, then work your way to half shots with a ball, then to full-speed swings. You'll be puring it in no time.

HOW I SEE IT
The phrase "great ball-striker" is code on the PGA Tour for somebody with a sharp iron game. But I think the true greats with the irons have specific areas where they've excelled. It starts with greens in regulation (GIR). When they were dominating, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods were always near the top in GIRs. To look at it another way, the players who lead in average proximity to the hole from 50 to 125 yards are giving themselves more makable putts for birdie. Last year, Steve Stricker led that stat at 14 feet, eight inches. That's how a short hitter—and great putter—wins $3.5 million in only 19 tournaments.Read More http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-instruction/2013-06/hank-haney-test-impact#ixzz2TNqx5Brb
How Mobile Golf Games and Apps – Can help Beginners Learn the Game of Golf
While some of us may be traditionalist – having a difficult time accepting some of the technological advancements in golf. Others are taking advantage of it’s benefits, especially beginner golfers Learning how to play golf and understanding how this game is played. If your like many of us golfers who have a difficult time finding the time to get out on the course or the driving range. A golfing game or App can be a great alternative. I know it may seem silly, but the benefits can be surprisingly helpful to your actual golf game. This can be particularly beneficial for beginner golfers trying to acquire basic knowledge of the game. Learning things like – how the scoring system works, golf clubs and there intended uses, golf rules, what type of shot to use in any given situation (pitch, chip, punch, flop, etc.), how wind conditions have an effect on your golf shots, or even improve on your mental game as well. These golf games can be as frustrating as the real thing, I wonder how many Xbox or Playstation controllers have been damaged in comparison to the broken golf clubs of the world.
When talking about golf equipment – things like clubs, balls, shoes, bags and maybe a few traditional swing aids will be discussed. But, Mobile Apps are becoming commonly used by amateurs to improve their games. Now there are even Apps that can be used as swing aids, by attaching your phone to a club or putter. Giving you instant and accurate feedback of your swing faults. From GPS navigation to swing analysis Apps – Innovations in golf technology are having a profound affect on golfers world wide.
Here are a few of my favorite golf apps:
